SCM K208 Adhesive3/17
...those of you running an SCM K208 edgebander - what glue spec do you find works best for PVC and wood? We are currently using Jowat Clear Melt #280.90. Find the glue residue very hard to remove when running PVC and, on wood, it does not result in a good glue line. Thanks for any suggestions.
I have seen this with several machines. Let me clarify a few things. The fact that you are running a SCM should not be a factor. Second, the type of glue that you use could be.
There are many factors to consider when choosing your adhesives. Cost should not be one of them.
You state that you are running PVC and Wood. Can you give us some details as too your product. Is it 0.5mm, 1.0mm, 3.0mm or all/none of the above. Is your wood in the form of solid strips, thin tape or thick coil. All of this will help us to determine what may be your issue.
Also, where are you located? Believe it or not, I have had some adhesives work well in some areas, where other adhesive just don't work.
Please find below a document I put together for another posting. It may help to explain some of your concerns.

Jack - thanks for weighing in here...the article was helpful. We are running predominantly 1mm PVC, 3mm PVC and solid wood strips. We occasionally run rolled veneer. Very little laminate; substrates mostly plywood, mdf and particleboard.
Jack...meant also to add that we are in Maine.
Have you had an opportunity to review the information I sent you?
Hopefully you will find some useful tips. Should you have any questions, please post them on this forum in case someone else has the same question.
Jack...indeed. Article was helpful. We discovered that our glue rep recommended and sold us a model of Jowat glue that was not suited for our machine in terms of feed rate. Our SCM can push up 36 FPM and the glue sold to us was rate for 54 to 120 FPM. Just goes to show that you should never substitute someone else's research for your own.
Thanks again...article was a good tool.
Wonderful. Glad it helped.
So what did you change to ? Al
I have slowly rebuilt a Basic 2. There seems to be a problem with buying used equiment. Someone has been working on it who should not have been doing so.
We have a K208 ER, the only glue we have had any luck with is Dorus K203 it is the glue that SCM specs for the machine.
