Edgebander glue pellet life span
11/6/14
I have a small edgebander that is pretty lightly used, I've used maybe 1/8 of the bag over 3 years, it's kept in a big bucket with a lid to keep dust out, but not air tight. Wondering if I should keep using it or if it should be replaced before 2025 when it runs out lol. Seems to be working fine, just scared of receiving a wave of callbacks one day because I waited to long to replace it...

Hi Mike,
I wouldn't be too concerned as there is no chemical change on use only a form change.
If it went off that quick all our edges would fall off.
Cheers Marty

Our edgebander uses a cartridge (Dorus HKP25) instead of a pellet. We rarely use the black but I have a case of it, stored on the concrete in the original cardboard box/clear plastic bag. There are maybe 9 cartridges left and the shipping date was 1999. Still works fine; we just ran a job in the black so I checked it by edgebanding a piece of scrap and trying to remove it after cooling. It still holds great.

Be careful of reheating your glue time and time again. We have been having issues with glue not sticking to the edgebander and I believe it is because we heat it up to run a small batches. I think it is messing the glue up. Has anyone else had issues like this?
