laminating press Mylar alternatives11/16
The problem is that the mylars has to be removed every shift to be cleaned (baked glue residues) every shifts so the mylars weakens and tear in a week.
We are seaching for a solution to keep the mylars clean. Any ideas? or maybe we're doing something wrong..
Unfortunately there isn't an alternative you can use. The Mylar is the thinnest material possible to get to keep the glue and panels from touching the press. There are canvas belts, but when you press laminate. They will transfer texture.
What type of glue are you using? I have customers who accurately control their glue and use glue that doesn't require it to squeze out during pressing. They also cut their laminate a little bigger than the panel size. This would catch any little glue that squeezes out during pressing.
I would definitely look into those and then you don't need to clean your mylar daily. I have seen some people only clean it 1-2 times a week at the most.
