Does anyone know of a source for a sash lock like shown? I've tried Van Dykes and googled, and can't find that style of keeper that mounts to the face of the sash rail. I need something that looks old.
Or, is there any reason that a typical sash lock keeper can't be mounted to the face of the rail? It seems like it would work?
That looks like a standard sash lock with the female part mounted vertically. It would appear from your photo that it will work equally well in either vertical or horizontal positions.
I think your local machine shop could make a strike plate/receiver to match your picture and an off the shelf latch would work fine with it. You might try "Bronzecraft" They might have it.
This company might have it.
