Custom Furniture market data7/21
Does anyone have any industry data, perhaps in a business plan. I'm trying to find out the size of the custom made furniture in the USA along with any forecasts/projections for market growth/decline.
I'm working on my business plan and its hard to come accross the data you need even if you can pay for it...
Any help would be much appreciated.
Industry trade magazines (Journals) would be a good source,
FDM Furniture Design and Manufacturing also owns Cabinetmaker would be one.
there are more specific trades publication for the finished furniture industry (Think High Point NC) yet I focus on Custom Architectural
Good advice, thanks
It can be very difficult to navigate, but the US dept. of commerce keeps extensive (creepy) records. You should be aware though that capturing a comprehensive look at this market is difficult at best. Much of it is done by small cabinet and artisan shops. In most industries, those folks are not usually viewed as being a significant enough portion of the market to be included in surveys. But for this market, they do the bulk of the work. IRS, WC and other agencies don't even have an official classification for custom, choosing instead to include it with architectural woodworking, or furniture manufacturing. Which in my opinion, is completely misleading.
According to Forbes "handufactured" furniture is the next big thing because of the growing trend in customers wanting to have a deep relationship with what they buy.
If you have the talent and the vision, just do it!!
