Has anyone here ever seen or heard of a 1/8" plywood , ready made as opposed to a custom layup, w/ exterior glue - if so could you point me in the direction of where I might be able purchase this.
Any lumber supplier that deals in marine grade plywood would have this.
If you where in MI I would point you to LL Johnson Lumber first or All America Plywood, they might have this also.
Do search for Okoume marine plywood
Thanks guys, I will look into the marine plywood.
Sorry I am late in responding to this.
Marine plywood means that an exterior adhesive was used, the same adhesive used in all exterior panels. Marine also uses only high grade veneers throughout the panels, which means better gluing. None marine grade can use lower grade interior veneers with knots, gaps, etc. so the gluing is not quite as good.
The issue with 1/8" plywood is that veneers are seldom very thin, so this plywood might have only three sheets of veneer, which means that warping, especially twist, is likely. So, most manufacturers avoid this thin product.
Thanks Gene, I didn't get the job I was bidding when I first asked the question, but what you mentioned about the likely warping of a three ply layup will help me avoid problems with a prototype I'm working on now. Thanks again.
