Grizzly 5959Z Parts

5/30/18

Hey Guys.

I have a Grizzly 5959Z in which I need to replace the bearings. Long story short, we ended up cracking the Arbor Bracket (part 11). It can be brazed, but honestly if I can purchase another arbor bracket, or if someone has one used that would be great. Needless to say Grizzly has discontinued this part and its pretty necessary to my machine.

Can anyone advise me on a vendor that might carry used parts, or have enough knowledge of the 5959 that I can use a part from an older model or another brand?

Thanks,
Ben C

No idea what a 5959Z is, but maybe try Lobo or other importer like them. Can't imagine a dealer that would carry used Grizzly. When that machinery is used up, it's scrap value!

Grizzly uses a lot of the same parts between similar machines. They have online parts ordering links and drawings on everyone of their machines online. With a little snooping you should be able to find the bracket.

Its a 12" tablesaw.

From my understanding Grizzly was basically copying the Delta saw. My concern is that the teeth that allow the blade to tilt on a bevel would not align with a different brand arbor bracket. Hence my question : does anyone have enough knowledge of the brand and saw to know that a Delta arbor bracket would work within a Grizzly table saw.

If you are fishing with the hope of buying new Delta parts, forget it. They don't sell parts for machines that were made 5 years ago. Delta is just a shell compared to the old days. I think the last 12" Delta was made in Brazil wasn't it? You have to find a Chinese company. I'd do some Google work for Chinese made 12" table saw and see what hits.

Yep, I tried to buy a cast iron part for my 10 year old Delta 10” unisaw just last week with no luck. I used that as an opportunity to buy a Sawstop. I’m no fan of the founder’s past shenanigans with OSHA but I am a fan of the saw and the thought that went into creating a fantastic table saw! What a dream saw, if there is such a thing.

Ben:

I feel your pain. Early in my tool acquisition experience, I bought some Grizzly machinery; some good, some bad. For the money, at that time in my life, the machines were as good as they needed to be, but parts for the discontinued items (pre-internet) was a real nightmare.

In your case, welding the bracket and shimming/realigning it back in place may be the way to go.

For what its worth, the attached link shows a model of a Jet table saw that looks like a white painted copy of your saw. You may be able to ask the right person the right question and find out if they were made by the same manufacturer, and if parts are swappable.

Hope this helps TonyF

Kip, if your saw is 10 years old, most all of the guts of the saw are interchangeable with parts from 70 years ago. You should check both eBay and vintage machinery.com. The early saws went through a few modifications so the parts might not be interchangeable. Hope that was helpful

Thanks guys. Tony, it does look like that part will likely work. I'll probably just give it a shot if my welder continues to ignore me!

On another note, A Tannewitz model U came up for sale in my area and I'm picking it up today! Bought it for $950, and so far it just needs a little cleanup.

WOODWEB's forums are a highly regarded resource for professional woodworkers. Messages and responses that are crafted in a professional and civil manner strengthen this resource. Messages that do not reflect a professional tone reduce the value of our forums.

Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion (return to top).

Libel:   Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.

Improper Decorum:   Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable (return to top).

Advertising:   The purpose of WOODWEB Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions. WOODWEB suggests that businesses include an appropriately crafted signature in order to identify their company. A well meaning post that seems to be on-topic but contains a product reference may do your business more harm than good in the Forum environment. Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Signatures should be limited to 4-6 lines, and may contain information that identifies the type of business you're in, your URL and email address (return to top).

Repeated Forum Abuse: Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.

There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).
