Onsite custom cabinets5/15
I have heard that many European cabinetmakers actually pull up to a job with a trailer full of tools (mostly Festool) and build custom cabinets which include edge banding, assembling frameless boxes, doors, drawers, and even some veneer work. I would love hear from those of you who know this to be true and especially those who have or are living/working in Europe. If this the case I would be curious to know the methods used and if this would work here in the states.
there was an article in the JLC magazine a few yrs ago about someone doing this. I think in new England area. You could try a search there to see how he went about it. www.jlconline.com
Back in the day, long before Festool was a household name, it was common in parts of the USA to site build. There is still some site built cabinet activity.. It was very popular in Texas. The builder would complete the garage first and the cabinet maker would set up in the garage while the builder and the HVAC, electrician and plumber completed other work
Custom cabinets would be more beneficial for replicating the cabinet style and colour.I have recently done my cabinetry work from Local cabinet makers .
