hi cabinet makers
I haven't used Cabinet Pro for 5 yrs. I now use Cabinet Vision. No comparison in price.
You will find that Frank and his wife (Owners and programmer of Cabinet Pro) are wonderful people and you can rely on them. Ask questions of them before you buy. Tell them, what you need to accomplish. I'm sure Frank will be very honest in answering your questions. If you cannot get it done in Cabinet Pro, he will tell you so.
From what I understand the program has improved in the last five years.
The key to any cabinet program is patience and take the time to learn it.
Cabinet Vision has several different levels. I started with Standard, but quickly moved up to Advanced. It was still too limited for me and I now use Ultimate. With Version 9's release some of the features that were only available in Ultimate, are now part of advanced.
Anyway, the most important thing to consider about Cabinet Vision is: If your not willing to pay about $1000.00 a year for support, I wouldn't buy it. The support that Cabinet Vision provides is excellent. Its the best I have seen. It includes free upgrades and fixes, along with the forum. The forum is the best part. Monitored by techs and users that know the program better then the back of their hands. For me with out the support I would never have been able to use it. It took about 2 years to get comfortable with it and after 5 years I'm very confident with it.
So. I'm not sure what it costs now, but I would suspect it is about $4000.00 to $8000.00, depending on the level. You'll have to check with them. It's worth a look, even if it is just to rule it out.
Also, have you looked into Mozaik(Not sure of spelling)? It is rental only and includes support with a forum. It is similar to Cabinet Vision. And is used with sketchup from what I see.
Hands down. Cabinet vision and mozaik are the way to go. I have both of them and am really happy. Mozaik is nice because of their forum and quick responses from email help. Cv has very professional drawings that you can show your client.
Cabinet planner works for me. I think its only $80 or so.
We recently purchased cabinet pro software and I would never recommend it to anyone. Any time there is an absolute no refund policy and they sound like they talk to lawyers often about their practices.. that's problems. Absolutely outdated, over priced and complete waste.
