Looking for a set of bench chisels for the refinishing biz6/19
I work for a refinishing company, where i'm continually using my "blue handled" chisels. Irwin chisels
The problem is kinda two-fold
1. The chisels get dull very quickly, so obviously I need a better quality chisel
2. At the same time, i will have a tendency to hit nails, etc that will obviously dink the sharp edge.
So, knowing this..... I need a high quality chisel (high quality metal), yet at the same time, I don't need to spend 200.00 for each chisel.
I'm willing to spend decent money for a set ..1/4",1/2",3/4" and 1". I'm ok spending say 150.00 on the set.
I know if i buy them through say Woodcraft, I'm going to pay an unnecessary premium.
Will someone please provide me some links?
I'm just sick and tired of needing to sharpen my chisels every other day on my Tormek T7.
You could also look at used chisels , try a flea market or ? The best chisels I own were bought used one by one .
I've had good service over the last 15 years with my set of Lee Valley bevel chisels. They're about $120 for 7, and fit into the "nice, but not so nice that I can't take them to the jobsite" category. (The LV sku is 44S01.21)
I use Marples chisels. Not very costly. Hold an edge nicely.
Nothing it gonna take a nail though.
