SPAX - Using Torx screws long term8/18
Anybody use SPAX screws from Germany? Feedback?
Also, what about Torx head screws to prevent cam-out - Do they really work long-term or do the tips snap off easier or wear out so that that they slip like philips?
thinking to go to Torx to forever stripped screw heads. (I'm aware of the issues of someone having difficulty removing screws later but we mostly use screws in permanent places)
Buy a box of GRK too and compare them.
we have used square head screws for 35 years and the only time we have issues is when the bits have worn down. Harold.
Has anyone actually used SPAX brand? I would like feedback on this specific brand from any users.
(thanks for the other posts; appreciated)
I use Spax all the time.
I know they cost more but I feel they're worth the extra money. They don't break the way case hardened screws do.
Do you use the screws with the serrated threads?
do you always drill pilot holes in hardwood when using Spax?
I use the combo head mainly, but that's what I have easy access to.
I always drill pilot holes. Even with the serrated threads I don't buy the hype you don't need them.
The only advantage of the serrated threads is the size of pilot hole is not as critical, a smaller one is ok, but I always drill one.
