This is a quick shout out to Wolf/Subzero for the best appliance specs in the industry. They understand the information that is important in order for us to be able to engineer our cabinets to fit their appliances. For whatever reason, no other appliance manufacturer has grasped the concept that we need 3 simple sets of measurements: the overall face size, the depth of the unit behind the face, and the amount that the face overlays the body on each of the four sides.

Wolf/Subzero is the only manufacturer that supplies these dimensions in a simple and understandable PDF format. Encourage all of your customers, contractors, architects and designers to make these appliances their first choice whenever possible. And hopefully every other manufacturer will someday take notice and improve their specs. Afterall, virtually every single one of their appliances gets installed into a cabinet. The least they could do is assist us by giving us the information we actually need.

This was one of those 1950's models. It had as much chrome on it as a similar vintage Buick. It also had a butter warmer on the door. The warmer was essentially just a christmas tree light bulb that you slide closer or farther away from the butter depending on your preference.

For $9,000.00 I think Subzero ought to give us a butter warmer. But like you, I am happy to settle for the information I need to build an enclosure.

Now if we could get the crown molding vendors to understand the inter web isn't just another fad and actually post the horizontal and vertical dimension of their molding online. It would be really wonderful to know the diagonal dimension if I was a moulder operator but the people who are in charge of making product selection could care less about that number. We need to know how far it projects and how tall it is.

Yes, however I am tasked with making a hood for a wolf liner. Apparently the insides need to be accessible as per code. I've never done this though I'm sure thousands of others have. It'd be nice if they could incorporate some guidance in building an "accessible" hood for a liner and blower. But yes, hurray for measurements on the spec sheet that match the appliance

younare right about wolf/subzero, but most of the higher end mfg do the same. We just finished a kitchen with integrated subzero fridge, Miele speed oven, Miele steam oven and warming drawer. We are also working on a kitchen with Leibbher integrated fridge, integrated freezer, Asco dish washers and all the specs are perfect.
Many cabinetmakers may not be aware that the local appliance showroom can also be very helpful and most companies have a design center contact for any tricky installations that may be outside the box.
Reading all the specs before you start the project and understanding the parts of the puzzle are also an absolute must. I have seen guys start to build and say they will figure it out later. This usually results in rework on site, or even worse, damaging an expensive appliance by not following instructions, for example burning out a compressor on a 9k fridge because you didn't follow clearance instructions.
