titebond III for HPL
10/6/15
Has anyone used titebond III to laminate HPL to MDF.....We've always used the Titebond Cold Press for HPL glue for this purpose. I currently have a job where there is concern about moisture (spills) in a commercial kitchen and the Cold Press glue is not recommended for "exposure to moisture".

Best to ask Franklin about this but my guess would be that it will work fine. Open time will be different though. What water proof material are you using for the core?

We'd likely use Extira {exterior grade MDF) for the core.

I would research the extira or medex a bit more. I've heard some bad stuff from other posters on this site claiming the moisture content is very high and not good for laminating to. I don't speak from experience though. Out of curiosity, why would a professional kitchen have anything other than stainless?

Hi, I recently did some backsplashes with titebond 3 , vacuum veneered large face down in press and caul clamped small edges on. Real happy with results. If you were to use extira , it should be waterproof.

I press laminate and veneer with Titebond 2 with consistently good results. I am certain of the water resistance of the glue line because I remove my veneer tape with water and scrub the joints to remove the tape glue residue. I see no reason to use the more expensive and viscous TB III. By the way, I am cold pressing in a vacuum press with a 30 minute cycle time.
