Does Fastenlink work?8/29
Just returned from IWF very inspired (and somehow refreshed). I was extremely intrigued with the Fastenlink doweling system (one of the Challenger's award winners). As I'm trying to move toward the doweling process, which is very expensive, I like the idea of possibly not having to buy a case clamp. I will order their trial package to play around with but wondered if any of you have tried this out yet and how you were liking it - or is it just "pie in the sky"? Thanks for your input!
From what I understand, they even have the UCS worked out to create this as an intellijoint in CV.
That looks cool.
How do they accommodate different thickness material?
How much are the fasteners? are you dependent on one source for these?
Are they accepted by AWI or WI?
Have you looked at TenonCam?
It does seem like a cool system which is why I'm going to start playing with it and see if it is a good fit for us. They only have 8mm dowels at this time but it sounded like there may be other sizes to come in time. I believe they have already been accepted by WI. The fasteners are about $500 per 5000 according to their web site: https://fastenlink.com/
Yes, I looked at the tenoncam but it still doesn't eliminate the ugly look of "seen" fasteners or being able to flat pack certain things.
solidsetup.com, manipulated us into purchasing a software product that would help manufacturing become easier. They advertise a product for 3899.00 SOLIDJOIN ADVANCED (with FASTENLINK). We paid for the product ,,to receive a tutorial and 10% of coding. We were told the remainder of the code would have to be manually created/adjusted. We asked for a refund and were rejected. This company is advertising a product they do not have. I was defrauded. When I confronted the seller, I noticed the company changed the advertisement, luckily I was able to make a screen capture of the original advertisement.
Thanks for mentioning that Steve.
If Fastenlink tolerates that they are complicit by commission.
Too bad it looks like a very cool product, but if they are not able/willing to provide software they are complicit to the defrauding.
Maybe not legally but in the mind of the customer they are.
We found a programmer from new jersey that was able to help us,,you don't need Solidsetup and 4k to get everything to work properly,,,,thank goodness,,,,everything is already in CV9
How do you like the system?
As we all know there is always 2 sides to an event. We at Fastenlink never stop helping a willing customer. Please contact us directly for any assistance or any questions you might have.
Can't speak on Solidsetup but I can tell you that the folks at Fastenlink are tremendous. Phillip is a true visionary, he is the same guy who invented Cabinotch. Now he invents Fastenlink and changes the entire industry. As far as the install goes here is my experience thus far... I have CV Version 9 Build 165 made a call to Jamie and he set us up same day. We are in the process of testing buy looks great thus far. Invisible, strong, simple and considering the labor savings...inexpensive as one can ask for. I will update this post when we are in production.
We bought Fastenlink to use on plywood. We spent days and days trying to get it to work. Yet to no avail we pulled the plug and had to go a different rout. It does not work on plywood! Period! The core is just way to soft and pulls out. This is meant to use on melamine material. We set up for one box and on the first try it was perfect. One time! I would definitely recommend this for melamine but NEVER for plywood.
