Hi,
We have an SCM K201plus bander from 2007. We bought used a couple of years ago.
When parts are fed, they hit a bar that causes the end trim to follow the panel. On shorter parts, this impact is causing the parts to twist slightly and causes two issues. Issue only occurs on parts less than about 16".
1st issue is the trailing end of the panel comes off the pressure roller so tape doesnt get pressed firmly against the panel and is sometimes loose.
2nd issue is the part is now running a little crooked through the other stations and this is effecting the quality of top/bottom trimming.
Because this is only happenning on shorter parts, we suspect the part slippage is due to insufficient clamping pressure between the track and the beam.
We have tried reducing the beam height (example, setting height to 15.5mm for 16mm material) so more pressure is applied to the panel. This doesnt seem to work.
Our next thought was that the track pads were too slippery, so we tried scuffing them a little with sandpaper. This doesnt seem to work.
Our current thought is to replace all the track pads.....but this is not cheap....so thought I would put this out here.
How long should a set of track pads last? Should a 10 year old machine that has seen light use require new pads?
Any other suggestions or anything we should be looking at?
