Does anyone have a good procedure for creating a consistent smooth and tight joint when doing a full wrap with 3mm PVC on table tops. We are using a Festool portable bander that applies adhesive directly to edgebanding.
We have the end trim tool also from Festool and the videos just talk of trimming and quickly pressing banding on. There are many issues with this and it does not really work that way. The adhesive on the banding is problematic for trimming and time involved to press on, also the plastic trimming tool is not really consistent for this operation.
The procedure we have now involves taping of the end of banding so last part does not get adhesive, trimming end of banding for tight joint and then gluing and clamping with Roo Glue. This also involves a lot of sub steps that I have not even mentioned. This seaming operation takes more time than all other operations combined on these full wraps.
We must have a smooth joint that is as waterproof as possible as these are mostly restaurant table tops.
I know we should be outsourcing these from someone with automatic bander but owner wants to use our own equipment, consequently when we have a batch of 50 or so to do they sit around partially completed until they absolutely have to get out.
Thank You
