Hope you move ahead with that Tom, its a great idea. We put in an older bander a good while back and while they are pretty straight forward, they are also very challenging. Our Holz-her manual was pretty horrible as well with terrible photo's and very poorly worded operating and adjustment procedures. Not to mention the way its compiled its about a 2.5" thick binder that was miserable to navigate until we tab'd it heavily.
I consider myself extremely mechanically savvy and if I have the time I actually enjoy tweaking, debugging, and understanding, the mechanics behind a machine so when something is off you pretty much know which areas to look but same as the OP, there is pretty much zero bander information out there so your left sorting it out on your own. Thankfully Holz-her's tech support has been phenomenal in the 2-3 times Ive had to call.
It'd be great to see any amount of info on various banders and banding issues, tips, and so on. We've been lucky to have landed on what seems to be a very reliable used machine though every day it runs I wait for the headaches to start. Fingers crossed.
