Appreciate anyone reading this.
To give some backstory, our collection of gears and belts that turn the glue applicator, pressure rollers, etc.
suddenly developed a bit of a hitch in its rotation after every full cycle.
Everything was still functional and allowed banding to be done but we had it looked at pre-emptively.
The tech was inexperienced with banders but did determine that it was bad bearings inside the glue applicator column and considering that we've taken our already
old, leaky and fried glue pot well beyond its life expectancy we decided to bite the bullet and order a new one.
That's all well and good.
The issue now is that I had assumed we'd be able to put the old glue pot back on and keep running until the new one arrives.
But upon remounting the pot and plugging it back in the heating elements no longer warm up.
The glue roller icon eventually goes into alarm soon after starting up and the only error message we get is to check the thermocouple probe and its connection.
The probe appears to be fine as I can take it out, hold it in my hand and watch the reading on the monitor slowly rise up to my body temperature.
Simply clearing the error solves nothing, nor did a power cycle.
We've tried new fuses and doubled-checked the heating element connections (even though they were never disturbed by the tech).
The heating elements are newer parts and are installed correctly.
No tripped breakers.
I can even hear the switch in the undercarriage clicking when I toggle the glue tank on/off from the monitor control.
The only thing I can think the tech did during the process of elimination that could have caused this was that he
unplugged the glue pot, pulled it out and used a probe to manually run the motor that turns the belts/gears to
see if the hitch we had would disappear without the presence of the gear that turns the glue applicator.
Seems harmless but I'm worried maybe something else was fried in the process.
Thanks for any ideas.
