Holzher 7405 and other Vertical CNC machines

We have a Holzher 7405 vertical CNC machine and it is sucking the life out of our dust collector (big 10hp Dustek 3 bagger). 3 open 6" ports that do very little in the way of collecting dust in the CNC machine except make our dust collector ineffective for our panel saw and edgebander. The saw spews a lot of dust and the panels come off the edgebander filthy as a result (all machines are Holzher). Curious about other vertical machines and how they affect dust collection.

You might want to do some research on the filter area to CFM @ a specific pressure. I can't see your collector but I'm guessing it has 3 top filter bags and 3 plastic catchers below. I'll bet the filter is way small for the rated cfm. We've got a 15hp backward inclined fan into 84, 6" X 6' bags with automatic cleaning every two hours. Pretty close to the recommended ratio.
The poor dust collection @ the router shouldn't affect the other machines, much, if the cfm & pressure are correct for the 3 - 6" outlets. Vertical routers by their nature are more difficult to collect from.

Thanks Larry
You are correct about the dust collector. 10 hp Dustek with 3 filter bags and 3 plastic collector bags. When you mention filter size are you referring to the size of the filter bags being too small? And how would I go about determining the cfm's at the other outlets? I do realize that a vertical machine is going to be less efficient regarding dust collection but I am trying to understand why the dust collection down the line is so poor. Unfortunately there are no gates to shut down going to the CNC, so I can't really determine how much an effect it's having on the other machines. Understanding and calculating proper dust collection has never been my strong point so any information you or anyone else can contribute is appreciated.

The companies that sell custom filter bags have information on their web sites about the different types of bag material, the recommended area for the CFM, depending on what you are trying to filter, & on how clean you want the air to be. At least one of those companies advertises on this site. American Fabric Filter has a lot of information on-line and will help you with recommendations if you send them all of your information. See their site for what to send. I've used them and they were most helpful.
I've used them to make new bags for my main filters and a couple of custom bags to improve flow on the type of collector you are using. I had a really big bag made that I hung from the ceiling over a barrel (they provided a nice barrel attachment) on a rolling cart (Grainger) that made changes much easier. (I had pivot brackets welded to the barrel so I could pick it up with the forklift and roll it over into the dumpster. I could dump most of the dust by pushing the lower part of the barrel against the dumpster to tip it.) I just ducted from the existing collector to the big bag. When I was desperate for using it as a portable I put the original bag back on & moved it. Don't have to do that anymore.
