We are an architectural millwork shop running a wide variety of items from case work and counters to high end reception desks, nurses stations and anything else we think we can build.
We currently run an SCM Tech 80 p2p that's been a great machine but recently we've had a great deal of trouble with ASPAN (the software SCM USED to sell with their machines). They've since started selling Alphacam with their machines and with the amount of custom work we do I want to have a program that I can control the machine with easily. We use Microvellum for our reporting, purchasing, code generation etc and while V7 does have a decent single part designer its really only good for cutting curves and sink templates.
Given that I have myself (proficient in Microvellum, Autocad and CNC/ G-code), a CNC operator (some cad experience, learning more about programming every day) and someone in drafting (strong Autocad background, learning Microvellum) does anyone have a training regimen they feel would work for all of us?
SCM offers a 3-day class in Georgia (we're in CT) for $1300/ person without accommodations and at the moment that's really not an option for all 3 of us.
Has anyone done this class or a similar one that has any insight?
If I went could I teach others how to run Alphacam?
Does anyone use the Alphacam support site? Microvellum has a pretty extensive library of training videos available thru youtube or their support site, Does alphacam have something similar?
Any insight anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
