transitioning from p2p to router5/20
we are looking at transitioning from our old p2p to nested base router machining. Where is a good place to start to educate ourselves. We are looking to use it strictly for processing cabinet parts with very little need for other type work. We presently dowel our cabinets and we do strictly frameless construction.
I forgot to mention we have been using Cabnetware and are now having to transition to Cabinet Vision as well. Pretty big changes and wondering about the learning curve as well.
I did excatly what you are doing, except I had Cabinet Vision and did not post to the ptp.
I would say, that you are going to need to understand that everything can be processed by CV and the router. We have learned some work arounds, but the biggest thing we had to do was get one guy dedicated to the software, drawing and getting us organized with the materials and construction methods.
The best piece of advice I got was to lock myself into a room and not come out until I was producing cabinets on paper, that I wanted.
We also took the advice to produce square boxes first and get all the construction methods and offsets inputted, then start to make the leap into the radius work and custom work.
It has been 3 years since we took the leap, and it's been great. There is a lot of help on e-support and you can pm me via e-mail anytime.
