Omnitech Selexx PAL11/10
We are using an Omnitech Selexx PAL with an Fanuc control. We bought it used with software loaded on a PC about 6-7 years ago. The machine was built in 2008. We do not have any cd's or disks to reload the software or any connection to Omnitech or Anderson should the PC reach the end of it's life. The motherboard has already been replaced and we are worried that the PC may become unusable in the future. The machine is in great shape and we would like to get a computer set up and ready in the event the old one fails. I am looking for advice on how to get the operating software off of the old computer and onto a new one. I fear that may be impossible due to the fact that we don't have any history with the manufacturer and also that there may be issues with 32 vs 64 bit operating systems and any number of issues we haven't considered. Any advice would be appreciated.
Call the manufacturer and see. I am sure they will be happy you are a customer. Just because you bought it used does not mean they won't help you. Quite the opposite they probably would like sell you the next machine. With that said it does not mean the help will be free.
A CNC is foundational, I would figure this out now not when it goes down and production stops.
Have you thought about getting another computer and get PCmover to copy the software. I just this with my laptop and all my programs and information was there on the new laptop and the old one as well
I have an omnitech 2007. Anderson bought gibben and they handle all the parts and service but anything with a fanuc controller still goes back to Anderson. Ask for tech support and they can help you. They have pcs loaded and ready to go or I bought a desk with current windows and they downloaded the current drivers via teamviewer. It was simple and they were very helpful.
