Homag Baz 41 Complex problem

Hello,
I have a Homag Optimat Joker 41 Cnc -router from year 2001.

Since i got a couple of months ago, it has had weird problems, which sometimes occur, and sometimes not,

For example:
During routing, the dust hood suddenly jumps up and the execution of the program stops, no error message.

Sometimes the servo drives gives error for too big following error, this neither seems to be linked to anything like accelerating hard with a heavy cut or so, can happen anytime, or can be that doesen't happen for days.

Sometimes when starting, the control power does not want to go on. The light indicator next to the button neither goes on, no error message.
Sometimes with this it helps to push an estop, and pull it back up. Then the light goes on and the machine lets you put the power on.
When this happens the power also easily goes away without an error.

All these problems sometimes occur, and sometimes not. Sometimes a reboot also helps, some days (like today) it seems like no amount of rebooting changes the situation.

Has anyone experienced problems like this with their Homag, or any other cnc router?
What could be the resolution to this?

A service tech said in the phone that the symptoms seem weird and didn't really know what could it be. Hasn't seen the machine yet, but is going to come for a visit in near future.

Check all connections and grounds.

I had a similar problem in a machine and it was a broken ground strap wrapped in a bundle of wires. As the bundle moved the ground would disconnect and reconnect seemingly at random.

Hey, and thanks for the reply.
I have gone thru all the wires and connections i can see.
The service tech visited today, and of course everything was working flawlessly :D
We anyway went through knocking all the relays while the machine was running to find bad connections/relays and one siemens siguard safety relay actually went off when knocked slightly with a screwdriver, and the symptoms which occured after that match the symtoms i was getting, like having trouble getting the control power back on(for which often helps tripping an estop a few times) He said that those safety relays actually are a very common problem in older machines and should follow how it goes and consider changing it.
My uneducated guess would be that the coil of the relay doesent pull a strong enough contact, so it might sometimes trip off. Gotta see how this goes, hoping for the best.

I feel for you. I hope it wasn't Stiles that came to look at it.

I have a similar issue, high humidity does TERRIBLE things to my machine, but no 'fix' for going on five years now. The BIRCHER relays for the safety mats are my big killer, but at nearly $1000 each from Stiles it's difficult to drop that every time they act up.

Have you asked about reflashing your PILZ box (if you have one)?

I am using an Optimat BOF 311 from right around the same year.
