Stability of BSolid????6/26
I have a Rover A scheduled to leave Italy this week for delivery in about a month.
I am having some reservation about BSolid.
I've got the believe the live version on the hardware has be be more stable. No one seems to be complaining.
But I have to admit, I am a bit shaken by my experience so far.
Two months later and a month out and am just getting software working that I need to write and test my post. (albeit with errors popping up)
I hope I am being a bit paranoid but, I need some reassurance from other current Biesse users :-)
Is it all in the office copies?
You need them to update your office version once they setup the machine, then it will run fine if you have enough ram (at least 16G) and hard drive space. Its pretty stable.
We just had to add ram and a larger HD at the machine for the newest update.
We had trouble trying to setup it up before our machine was setup (that was 3+ years ago).
I have a Rover K that's a year and a half old and BSolid has been very stable with no issues.
I believe the office version tries to update configuration files from the machine by default. That may be why its crashing.
Call Biesse support and see if the can help you get the office version running if machinery delivery is a ways off.
We have been dealing with Biesse support and yes we have a backup copy from our actual machine.
Our install may be a ways off but we need to develop our post processor for our proprietary CAM system.
Say G-Code to any support person at biesse and they don't know how to spell it.
We had to put a hold on the order because they could not get us documentation on G-Code.
It looks like our office copy is working after them working on it again this morning.
I just had to ask about Bsolid because of my recent experience and the magnitude of the consequences of the machine being unstable as the office software.
I feel good about it, but I just needed to verify :-)
Thanks for the responses
Bsolid is solid my friend. Those pc's at Charlotte are a joke and our boys at Green should be ashamed of the Bsolid classroom experience. It was laughable at times how the answer was restart pc. Well as you know that was necessary but as a 10 month post install Rover user I will tell you that amongst several CAM programs I operate on a daily basis in my custom cabinet company Bsolid is MORE reliable than most.
Had the machine running for over a month.
Bsolid is solid on the machine.
Also I finally delved into CIX programing.
It also has the huge advantage of being able to optimize the drilling cycle.
Service is very rigid, but after a reset of my expectation, it is good.
