Biesse Rover 24 or 23FT and Vcarve Pro

Wondering if anybody is using Vcarve Pro on a biesse rover 24 or23ft successfully and if so which post are you using? Also if anybody knows if it would be possible to export Mozaik dxf files to Vcarve pro and in turn send it to the biesse so that it can perform the cutting of cabinets from Mozaik. The reson for this is that Mozaik does not have a post for Biesse 24 or 23ft and biesse only reads ISO and not dxf. Any help would be much appreciated thank you

what controller do you use with the rover?
(nc500 , nc1000..)
if you use the package: polyboard & Tpa ,then we export for any type of machine
and you have also powerful parametric cadcam include in price
thanks

I have a NC1000/XNC controller. Who has polyboard or TPA software or where would you get it? Also my editor is blue, and I do not have biesseworks.

Yaakov what does the polyboard package cost?

Is anybody out there running a Biesse Rover 24 or 23FT if so what software are you using?

I have a Rover 22 with NC1000, not a flat table but basically the same machine as Rover 24 with shorter Y axis. I nest a fair amount of routed parts with Vcarve pro using the Rover arcs post in the list. Never have gotten the post to send router rpm to file but just add that manually.
Vcarve does not utilize multiple spindles in drill bank, although I have used Vcarve to mark spindle start points for multiple holes and changed code after post to use drill bank. Only have done this though if I required many sheets of same pattern.

Hi Dustmaker I tried the sample program to see if it would work and I got an error message "INT 150" saying that the program was not found. It was sent to my machine I can see it on the worklist but when I hit Start the error comes up. Is there something I'm missing? My apologies I'm new to this world of CNC

You do need to open program in machine editor and re-save. That is all I usually do and works fine. Does code look correct when you look at it in machine editor?

It seems right. I will try re-saving and see what happens. If I wanted the drilling head to function what do I have to do? I make kitchen cabinets therefore would require the drilling feature.

cabinetvision

We run a Rover 30 FT with Cabinetvision. It's pretty liberating to watch the drills drop and then a back groove get cut with the 1/4 cutter then a tool change happen for a 3/8 cutter to cut the case. They spent a day or two with me on the post and getting implementation just right

It cost us a bit of money, but in the end it was worth it.

Hi Joe, did you get the program to run on your machine? Just wondering, since the other part of your question related to Mozaik if you currently design in that program. Do they not have a post for the Biesse machines?
I really like Vcarve for custom parts, especially since it is so inexpensive considering all the post processors they have available. I would think though, that Mozaik's cnc program or some others would be far better at nesting regular cabinet parts.
Just curious if you have already purchased Vcarve or just testing?

Hi Paul no I haven't purchased Vcarvre yet I want to make sure it works first and as far as Mozaik apparently they do not have a post for my machine and they will not make one because I guess its not profitable because its and older machine. Therefore I'm hoping that if Vcarvre works on my machine then I can use Vcarve to import the DXF files from Mozaik and use my machine that way. At least this is what I've been told from Mozaik. Hope it works !!!

Try Mozaik with the trial of Vcarve before you buy.

You can't output to the machine but it seems like the output from Mozaik isn't all that easy to import. It might be worth looking at Biesse works.

The Mozaik post for Biesse works doesn't seem to work all that well.

I might talk to cabinet pro and see what they can do for you.

I never got Vcarve or aspire to work with my machine. I finally bought enroute instead.

Good to know thanks Jason. Seems like everybody just wants your money but nobody can give you a straight answer. I talked to Nick from enroute before and he seems to know what works. Thanks for your input.

Joe

We run Cabinetvision and S2M. It only made sense for us to draw and then cut (or send code with one program). When we open up the "Machine" configuration the Rover 23 and Rover 24 are in the list of machines and so are the drilling blocks.

I know it seems expensive @ first, no matter what you buy, but in the long run you cannot pay a programmer, a cnc operator and draftsmen for what one of the software packages charges you. If anything, it will change you operation, that's for sure

Hi Paul I ran the program today and it worked but the z axis setting was not correct it went deeper than what I set it for. I have to change the parameter. The program writes it PLPZ so I have to tell my machine that PLZ=PLPZ will try this tomorrow other than that it executed the program. Now have to see if I can get the boring head to work.

Did you set the z datum in Vcarve at the bottom of the material? That is what I do to get z axis correct, never had to change anything else.

Vcarve does not write code for the boring head, drill cycles. What I do is create tool paths for boring as I was using main spindle but just to get xy coordinate for drill or first drill. Then I take this line of code with xy, add the boring head data and delete the tool change router start and stop for main spindle. If you just want to drill single holes sometimes it is quicker to just use main spindle with dowel drill than change code. If you have a lot of drilling like line bore etc. or many sheets of same pattern you will want to change to drill spindles. You just need to have the xy start for each drop and then drop say T1,2,3 etc for line bore. Of course you need to have a line of code for each drop, so if you have same drill head, 7 spindles in x that I do, you will need to create start points for every 7 spindles in line.

I have never had a problem importing dxf files from other program. At one time I was going to try Mozaik to see how good of a configurator it was especially If I could get dxf out of it. Vcarve is reasonably good at cad but takes a lot of time to draw individual cabinet parts.

Vcarve is good at creating tool paths and code within its realm, its great if you only need routing and single spindle holes.

We also have Cabinetvision and agree it would be a better screen to machine solution if you have a lot of parts to nest. We have not purchased the nesting abilities of that program since our machine is a PTP and parametric programs are the name of the game there.

Jus wondering what construction method you plan to use, do you need dowel holes + hardware and dadoes?

Regards
Paul R

I'll try setting the Z to the bottom tomorrow. The only holes I need is for shelves and hinge plates the rest is mainly dadoes.

I never meant to say that Mozaik wasn't a good program. There are a couple of hiccups with the Biesse post for Biesse works.

I bought enroute pro and I know you could import with that. It's just another step. I use Mozaik every day. I am not sure if they could write a post for the blue screen or not.

Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Repeated Forum Abuse: Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.

There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).
