Add softstart to std 3ph compressor motor?

When the air-compressor in the shop kicks on it causes a momentary drop in shop voltage that is enough to cause the CNC router to shut off sometimes.
Is there a simple softstart unit that we can put on the compressor to prevent the sharp dip in voltage?

I can't answer that question. I would be concerned with the service feeding the system. You should not get voltage drop?

Need to check incoming power and wiring situation. I have a 7hp compressor and 2 CNC's. Have never had any problem with anything when the compressor kicks on.

It would be interesting to see the running amperage of the compressor. I am going to guess it is a lot higher than the plate on the motor. You likely have a bad connection that is causing the amperage to be high. It would be especially high on start up.

Hey look into star delta, it is a method of bringing 3ph online softer.
