Last year I replace our Oneida 6' tall pleated canister with a tube sock system using American Filter Fabric tubes. The cartridge was a pain from day one. We would spend half an hour cleaning it once every week or two. Messy job that no one liked doing. Over time the pleats became embedded with dust that would not clean out.
The American Filter Fabric tube system uses 8 filter tubes that are about 6" diameter by 7' long, and all 8 tubes fit in a 24" x 24" foot print. There is a 24" x 24" x 24" manifold box at the top and a 24" x 24" x 12" collection box at the bottom.
The overall filter surface is much greater than the cartridge pleated surface and has yet to require cleaning. We have ZERO minutes in cleaning the system to date. We do empty the dust catch bin at the bottom of of the tubes once a month. It takes about 5 minutes.
The great thing about the American Filter Fabric material is that it naturally slakes off the build up on the inside of the bags. When the system is running the bags remain soft and flexible just like our oversize AFF bags on the smaller dedicated collectors on our two sanders.
