sander dust extractor8/22
I've had a couple of the early 2000s Fein units that both died within a short time of each other. No complaints, 15 years of hard use. The new Fein units don't seem as well made, bad switches apparently. Anybody have any experience with the 3hp Dewalt dust extractor? Any other suggestions in the 300 and under range?
In the under 300 range my guess is the best reviews your going to find are for the Rigid. It sucks to be looking at a home center option (for me) but we werent willing to pay for festool or fein and doing lots of research the rigid line seemed to boil down to the best decision. Your considering Dewalt so your not far off. Be interesting to hear what you opted for and your experience. Having small station specific dust collection is handy for us and the addition of a dust deputy to super fine stations makes about any vac that can move a ton of air a winner.
I just picked up a Karcher vac. They are OEM for Fein. Not enough time on it yet to know if it will hold up long term, but so far, so good.
I would add a Oneida Air Dust Deputy in front of the vac. It seems pricey but works as advertised. We recently did a lot of work with very fine dust and this kept all the dust out of the shop vac filter, amazing really. You just have to keep the bucket empty. It would probably make the shop vac last longer also.
