Central dust collection1/9
We are having a central dust collection with 1 engine (15kw).
However it's consuming to much electricity in my opinion. + it doesn't even have enough suction for these machines. and we still have a lot of machine to connect.
Now I was thinking in 2 options.
- connect several different engines to our central dust collector which are going trough the filter and the warm air is returning into the building. This way I would keep the 15kw only for the wide-belt sander.
- other option would be to disconnect our 15kw engine. mount a 2,5-3,5kw engine to our central dust collector.
what would work most efficient?
Has your system been designed by a profesional to work with your equipment?
That is, did you provide a floor plan that showed each machine and the CFM (cubic feet per minute) it requires? Did the engineer send back a plan that shows the HP (Kw) of the fan motor, the CFM of the fan, and the size of the ductwork?
I think this is the only way to reliably get a system that maximizes your resources.
You have to have something wrong with the ductwork if 15kw won't pull the dust and chips off 3 machines. Wrong diameter, too many elbows, or too long of runs. Are you using a trunk line or multiple runs?
