I have a couple of the Kremlin 10:1 pumps that I had been spraying Gemini pre cat and tinted sealers through for several years with no problems. Then a customer wanted a particular paint, Mohawk brand, pre cat and tinted sealer. Sprayed fine but the lower part of the pump, the stainless steel lower section that holds the check ball, started leaking and quickly grew icicles of sealer or pre cat. The sealer pump still sprays fine but the clear pre cat pump rig started having problems cycling and then stopped completely. You would hear the pump want to cycle, it would kinda slowly hiss and eventually complete a stroke. As you sprayed it would start to cycle quicker and then cycle normally. Then it just stopped so I pulled the lower section and found the o ring in pieces.

A couple of questions.
Has anyone had Mohawk pre cat eat that lower seal in their pump?
And who is a good source for getting Kremlin repair parts?

I have kremlin pumps myself. 4 of them total. There is no reasonable parts for Kremlin. All their parts are overpriced regardless of where you buy them. We are thinking of changing spray equipment as repair parts are so expensive you can buy a whole system for not much more.

The 10:1 kremlin pump lower fluid repair kit is not that expensive compared to the years of trouble free service the pump supplies. the lower section is designed in such a simple way that all you need is a decent size bench mounted vise and normal hand tools to get it apart. An inexperienced person can get this lower disassembled in less than 15 minutes and have the parts laid out on a clean work surface in minutes.... give the parts a quick scrub in the nooks and crannies of the threads.... install the throat seal... replace the piston seal and upper ball cage... install lower ball and oring for the cylinder .... lube all the parts with krelin grease and slide it all back together..... I can pull apart kremlin 10:1 and have my finisher shooting paint in 30 minutes.... to me that's priceless.... Don't believe the hype on brands that may have cheaper parts... you just cannot beat the consistency kremlin brings to the table.... We have well over 30 different kremlin pumps of various sizes in operation at our facility as well as a few big Graco units for some of our automated lines....CAT,Graco,Binks all make decent stuff but the quality of kremlin just surpasses them all....

so look to me their is a lot of parity in pumps in the industrial wood lines,

it is all about stroke rate per gallon and pressure, imho kremlin includes at lot of parts in the pump kit that you don't need i.e.,

the bottom ball check assy, very rarely like 95% of the time the ball check assy is rarely pressure wormed nor is it damaged unless you run the pump empty which i doubt you do,

also rarely do you need a new piston rod for the same reason as above, every other mfg standard repair kit only contains cups seals chevrons, and springs.

just my two cents i would look to other pumps just be sure to not undersize it to the delivery of the spray eqpt

So recommend the guy spend over $2K on a new pump than spend $200 on a repair kit that's going to put him back in spraying for hundreds of hours... Makes total sense. That's like trading in your vehicle first time the brake pads need changed....It's only money right?

no i never said that, if he is looking for another pump then there are many to consider and no the kremlin lower kit is almost 450 or so but at least the air motor is like 60 which typically fixes the pump not shifting air leaking out under the air motor piston which is what the blue seal in the air motor kit will fix or having to increase the air pressure on the pump to make it shift.
