Kremlin pumps

Hi all,
I have decided to join the 21st century and upgrade from pressure pots to pumps, and have narrowed down my list to Kremlin. I am trying to decide between the EOS 10-C18 (10:1) and the EOS 15-C25 (15:1). I am wondering if it is worth spending the extra money ($600 CDN) for the 15:1. The pump will be used primarily for post-cat clears and the occasional 2k poly, and I would rather hear real world experiences rather than a sales pitch. Thanks for your input.

Craig,

For what your doing you will be fine and happy with the 10C-18 take the savings and purchase a manifold and a Hopper kit for that unit....good luck!!

Agreed with above. I have a new Kremlin Eos 15:1 and like it but use it for different applications than what your planning. The 10:1 should work great for you. I am a Kremlin advocate.

I recently went through the same thing, trying to decide between those two pumps. I spray waterborne and decided to go with the Eos 10-C18. I am a one man shop and the smaller unit was enough for my level of production. I did a lot of internet research before driving out to the supplier and seeing the two pumps in person. The first thing I noticed was that the 15-C25 is huge compared to the 10-C18. I think it's meant for higher volume manufacturing and higher viscosity coatings.

I recently purchased the 10-C18 and love it. I, too, am a 1 man shop and my current volume fit within the 10-C18 specs.

As I recall the 15-C25 will actually spray a wider range of viscosities, both higher and lower, than the 10-C18. I am using more spray/no-wipe dyes these days and that made the larger unit more attractive. It is also a completely different pump design which, among other things, eliminates the "wink" produced by the 10-C18. Those are some definite advantages, but were no enough to tip the scale.

A week ago I set the pump up and sprayed over 4 gallons of CV sealer and top coat on one project. Last night I set it up and sprayed about 1.5 liters on some stools. One of the best investments I've made.

I have three of the smaller pumps, WAY nice. I use one for clear, one for pigmented sealer and another for pigmented top coat. I am a one employee shop so only one pump is being used at a time. I'd rather have several pumps than one bigger one.

Thanks everyone for the responses, I am going in for a demo next week. I am looking forward to the upgrade

the 10 C-18 will work, but post-cat and poly are usually thicker so you might need to reduce more your lacquer which reduce your amount of solid or operate at higher pressure.with the 15 to 1 you can spray higher viscosity product and run the pump at lower pressure which is less work for the pump and it will last longer and you won't have to reduce your product so much.

kremlin makes good stuff, i have one but would also suggest getting a demo on a binks and cat

all of the guns and pumps are very close, some choose due to personel preferences

the kremlin parts are very high compared to binks graco etc.

fwiw, very rarely do you ever need anything more than a 10-1 pump to spray most any wood coating

what really makes a difference and you should check out is the gall per minute delivery

anyway, you are making a good move,
congrats

good luck h

FORUM GUIDELINES: Please review the guidelines below before posting at WOODWEB's Interactive Message Boards (return to top)

  • WOODWEB is a professional industrial woodworking site. Hobbyist and homeowner woodworking questions are inappropriate.
  • Messages should be kept reasonably short and on topic, relating to the focus of the forum. Responses should relate to the original question.
  • A valid email return address must be included with each message.
  • Advertising is inappropriate. The only exceptions are the Classified Ads Exchange, Machinery Exchange, Lumber Exchange, and Job Opportunities and Services Exchange. When posting listings in these areas, review the posting instructions carefully.
  • Subject lines may be edited for length and clarity.
  • "Cross posting" is not permitted. Choose the best forum for your question, and post your question at one forum only.
  • Messages requesting private responses will be removed - Forums are designed to provide information and assistance for all of our visitors. Private response requests are appropriate at WOODWEB's Exchanges and Job Opportunities and Services.
  • Messages that accuse businesses or individuals of alleged negative actions or behavior are inappropriate since WOODWEB is unable to verify or substantiate the claims.
  • Posts with the intent of soliciting answers to surveys are not appropriate. Contact WOODWEB for more information on initiating a survey.
  • Excessive forum participation by an individual upsets the balance of a healthy forum atmosphere. Individuals who excessively post responses containing marginal content will be considered repeat forum abusers.
  • Responses that initiate or support inappropriate and off-topic discussion of general politics detract from the professional woodworking focus of WOODWEB, and will be removed.

WOODWEB's forums are a highly regarded resource for professional woodworkers. Messages and responses that are crafted in a professional and civil manner strengthen this resource. Messages that do not reflect a professional tone reduce the value of our forums.

Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion (return to top).

Libel:   Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.

Improper Decorum:   Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable (return to top).

Advertising:   The purpose of WOODWEB Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions. WOODWEB suggests that businesses include an appropriately crafted signature in order to identify their company. A well meaning post that seems to be on-topic but contains a product reference may do your business more harm than good in the Forum environment. Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Signatures should be limited to 4-6 lines, and may contain information that identifies the type of business you're in, your URL and email address (return to top).

Repeated Forum Abuse: Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.

There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).

The staff of WOODWEB assume no responsibility for the accuracy, content, or outcome of any posting transmitted at WOODWEB's Message Boards. Participants should undertake the use of machinery, materials and methods discussed at WOODWEB's Message Boards after considerate evaluation, and at their own risk.
