Kremlin excite

I have a brand new Kremlin excite gun that I have not used in about a month and I went to use today to use a pre-cat sealer and my fan pattern is only about 5 inches when the adjustment knob is all the way out. I thoroughly clean it after each use and I went to use today to use a pre-cat sealer and my fan pattern is only about 5 inches when the adjustment knob is all the way out. I clean it with pure SW Acetone and made sure that the little holes are all cleaned with the micro clean needles I have. for whatever reason it still wont give me a wider than 5 inch fan pattern. do any of you have any suggestions as to why this may be? I took off the orifice behind the air cap That has the 16 or so holes in circular fashion and saw it had gunk. Cleaned it, put it back together and no difference

Any thoughts?

Check your seals. You may be missing the one in your air cap or it may be torn.

As silly as it seams, missing that one seal can mess with my fan pattern?

I personally do not like the excite gun specifically for this reason. The o ring on the end constantly falls off. This will most definitely make the fan pattern smaller. I keep a whole bag or two of them around because they always fall off.

If its brand new, why not contact the outfit you purchased it from and ask for one. Should have been a complete ready to use out of the box item. Looks like its not.

Mike, its dave who commented on the missing seal. Ya you have to buy a set of 10 seals. everything for a kremlin costs 100 bucks. You have to go to the kremlin website for the codes. The fan pattern will not change at all. that is based on what tip you are using. It is stamped into the back of the tip like 09-092. YOu really need that seal the gun will not work right without it.

I just saw in the pic you have an 09-094 tip which will give you about 8" wide at 10" distance from a surface. Acetone does not cut it for cleaning the tips. you either have to have an ultrasonic cleaner or use gun wash. You dont have to open the fan adjustment valve that much. Max 1/2 turn from closed is all you ever want to open it.

you need a 150 040 329 pack of seals

without those you cannot redirect the atomizing air to the horns of the air cap

it they get damaged or cracked, you will have the same problem

also check the fan pattern controller to see if it is bent

and yes, get your credit card out to pay for them

good luck

Lol. Thx Herb! What a joke! I bought them this morning. I bought the EOS 15-1 from my Sherwin Willams and called them this morning and the way even more than the place in PA.

suprising, how much of a difference in price?

figured sw would be the same price as everyone else

Like 20-25.00 before shipping cheaper. Through that place in PA, it's a flat rate of 10.00, until u hit 100.00, then its free. SW doesn't offer that kind of deal

FORUM GUIDELINES: Please review the guidelines below before posting at WOODWEB's Interactive Message Boards (return to top)

  • WOODWEB is a professional industrial woodworking site. Hobbyist and homeowner woodworking questions are inappropriate.
  • Messages should be kept reasonably short and on topic, relating to the focus of the forum. Responses should relate to the original question.
  • A valid email return address must be included with each message.
  • Advertising is inappropriate. The only exceptions are the Classified Ads Exchange, Machinery Exchange, Lumber Exchange, and Job Opportunities and Services Exchange. When posting listings in these areas, review the posting instructions carefully.
  • Subject lines may be edited for length and clarity.
  • "Cross posting" is not permitted. Choose the best forum for your question, and post your question at one forum only.
  • Messages requesting private responses will be removed - Forums are designed to provide information and assistance for all of our visitors. Private response requests are appropriate at WOODWEB's Exchanges and Job Opportunities and Services.
  • Messages that accuse businesses or individuals of alleged negative actions or behavior are inappropriate since WOODWEB is unable to verify or substantiate the claims.
  • Posts with the intent of soliciting answers to surveys are not appropriate. Contact WOODWEB for more information on initiating a survey.
  • Excessive forum participation by an individual upsets the balance of a healthy forum atmosphere. Individuals who excessively post responses containing marginal content will be considered repeat forum abusers.
  • Responses that initiate or support inappropriate and off-topic discussion of general politics detract from the professional woodworking focus of WOODWEB, and will be removed.
  • Participants are encouraged to use their real name when posting. Intentionally using another persons name is prohibited, and posts of this nature will be removed at WOODWEB's discretion.

WOODWEB's forums are a highly regarded resource for professional woodworkers. Messages and responses that are crafted in a professional and civil manner strengthen this resource. Messages that do not reflect a professional tone reduce the value of our forums.

Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion (return to top).

Libel:   Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.

Improper Decorum:   Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable (return to top).

Advertising:   The purpose of WOODWEB Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions. WOODWEB suggests that businesses include an appropriately crafted signature in order to identify their company. A well meaning post that seems to be on-topic but contains a product reference may do your business more harm than good in the Forum environment. Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Signatures should be limited to 4-6 lines, and may contain information that identifies the type of business you're in, your URL and email address (return to top).

Repeated Forum Abuse: Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.

There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).
