Hi,
I've been spraying finishes for 25 years, but this is the first time that I'm spraying Chemcraft Chemlife 24 Post-Catalyzed Pigmented Topcoat. I'm spraying with Kremlin 20:25 pump and an mvx gun. I'm spraying in a clean room with an open faced booth. The problem I'm having is that when I spray parts laying flat, I get these "specks" in the finish. They are the same color as the paint. And they are about the size of a pin point. I have added 10% of the compliant reducer and also 2 1/2 to 3 ounces of retarder to one gallon of top coat. I also tried adding an additional 5% of the reducer. But, the problem is still there. This is a problem that I have had in the past and have never figured out what causes it when it occurs. I tried straining the paint and the filter on my pump and the filter on my gun is totally clean. In fact, the filter on the gun is new. I try to be consistent in the way I spray everytime. With other finishes I have sprayed the same way and the finish is totally slick with no "specks". And, now the "specks" have returned. I have no idea what else to try. Does anybody have any idea what is causing these "specks" and how to eliminate them? Thank you for your help.
