Vinyl Sealer Pricing9/22
Do any of you buy Sherwin-Williams Vinyl Sealer 24% Solids in 5-gallon pails? What do you expect to pay? I just paid $39.95/gal and I feel like that was too much. The reason I'm asking is because I closed my shop in 2011 but have recently reopened so I'm still feeling my way around on some pricing. I know volume matters; a guy buying a can every other month should expect to pay more than a guy buying drums at a time. I'm a small shop, but would expect to buy maybe 15 gallons a month now, maybe 25-30 gallons a month before too long. Just trying to get a rough idea of what a small/medium sized shop owner should expect to pay for this product.
I pay about $30.00 a gallon and like you I'm a small shop (around 500 gallons a year from SW). but lucky for me I happen to be in a small town with a fairly new SW store that is trying hard to increase local market share by breaking down contractor loyalty to the regional chain with low prices.
$23 last time I purchased it, although it's been a year or so as we've used MLC's for awhile now. It's around $22. I do use a good 25 gallons a week of lacquer products (10 or so of vinyl I'd say)- maybe that matters. I'd ask them if they could do better.
I do not think that your retailer has given you contractor's pricing. You are paying way, way too much, especially if you have purchased a five.
Prices of finishes have soared through the roof in these many years of this horrible economy. Inflation hurts everyone. But still, that's a high price, even with inflation.
I use the T67 F 6 and F7
I pay about 127 for a 5gal
Before I buy anything from Sherwin..I make sure I chat with a sales rep..
The sales rep will set up pricing for most things at a lesser price..
I was once paying 167 for a 5..which is absurd..
And the f6 is a fast dry precat and the f7 is a post cat kemvar..
