Kremlin 10.14 pump

Hello there. I could sure use some help/suggestions in setting up this spray system. I bought this gun used and the former shop sprayed Gemini cv finish, but I spray gf enduro var and enduro poly depending on the species/job I am building. Wondering how one goes about cleaning the system so there is none of the old residue left when I start spraying my finish. Also, where is a good starting point for setting the gun pressure and pump pressure? Gf has not been that helpful I found out. I usually spray parts everyday, so how often does a system like this have to be cleaned or flushed out? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would flush out with lacquer thinner first then i would buy a new fluid hose as there is no way of knowing how clean it is.
I use about 35PSI to the pump and about 15PSI for air.
whatever the potlife of the material you use determines when you have to flush gun.If you spray all day then flush at end of day.

no need to get new lines unless you just want to start fresh... here is how we do it and it's a bit ocd but if you cut our lines they will look brand new inside... buy a product called polychem acrastrip.. it's a waterbased stripper.

To start out fresh with lines of unknown condition:
Flush pump with laquer thinner and cycle through the gun and lines till it's running clear. Pump all the thinner out and in a clean container prime up some straight polychem in the lines and let it sit over the weekend.... next cycle time pump out the polychem and flush with water till running clear.... go about your normal spray routine with your waterborne clears and paints.... at the end of the day flush with appropriate solvent(Depending on what your running that day.. solvent/water) till clear..... pump it out and prime up the polychem full strength in the lines and hang it up for the night..... After a while any cancerous junk left in your lines will eventually give way during your flush cycles or get hung up in your gun screen... at first you may work through a little grit and trash in your screen and into your topcoats but it wont be dramatic unless the fluid hose is just really really cancerous and built up... If you flush correctly the polychem will stay very clean for months and months iand it will just be in the lines to soften any cancerous finish hanging on the walls of your lines.... eventually your pump and lines will sparkle inside... I'm always amazed how clean they are when I take one apart to put lower kits and seals in them... just make that a habit of how you shut down everyday... flush with solvent till clear... pump that out and the polychem in and it stays super nice... just clean the screen after pump out every morning before you start topcoating...

Hey guys thanks for the input. Also found you tube has tons of great info movies as well. To Shane, I went to poly chems website and did some digging and found there are four variations of their product. It looks like the 700 750 or 950 would work, but which does your shop prefer for cleaning guns and lines. Thanks

Polychem Acrastrip 600 B/G automotive...Best stuff ever and clean paint from all your equiptment... just be careful using anything full strength on aluminum... fine to soak a few hours but don't leave aluminum overnight it will pit.... we also keep it in full strength in an ultrasonic cleaner to soak tips and screens.... always have spotless tips soaking in there but just don't leave a kremlin aircap overnight it will eat it up... We get it from airpower

I have been doing some more looking on online forums and some guys said that a different pump lubricant is needed besides the 't' lubricant that comes with the pump for water based finishes. Kremlin does make another for ploys, but their reps don't really know the difference between the two lubricants. Wondering if this is worth worrying about or not.

WOODWEB's forums are a highly regarded resource for professional woodworkers. Messages and responses that are crafted in a professional and civil manner strengthen this resource. Messages that do not reflect a professional tone reduce the value of our forums.

Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion (return to top).

Libel:   Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.

Improper Decorum:   Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable (return to top).

Advertising:   The purpose of WOODWEB Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions. WOODWEB suggests that businesses include an appropriately crafted signature in order to identify their company. A well meaning post that seems to be on-topic but contains a product reference may do your business more harm than good in the Forum environment. Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Signatures should be limited to 4-6 lines, and may contain information that identifies the type of business you're in, your URL and email address (return to top).

Repeated Forum Abuse: Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.

There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).
