I have used the the Agualente products for years. Both the clear products and tinted. The clear products are much easier to apply than the tinted. But once you figure them out, they are both very good products.

Usually the right viscosity right out of the can. I use the CAT AAA with a 409F tip and it works great. The "F" tips are very important for the waterborne products.

Just remember, don't be in a hurry with the Agualente Plus clear. It drys slower and if you rush it, you will have nothing but problems. Unlike the old Agualente, putting moving air over the Plus too soon is a big no no.

I have recently been testing the new MagnaMax H2O precat waterborne polyurethane. It's very thin right out of the can, but has promise. It gives the amber tint I like on drawers etc. But runs very easy. Testing the 407F tip with it. Jury is still out on that one.

To sum it up. I have a local rep and a regional rep, who are excellent. Always there to help. So all problems etc are addressed immediately. No excuses ever, just good service.

So the product have a high learning curve? I am using a brinks model 7 spray gun so I'm thinking I will have to change spray gun.

You probably will need to change your equipment
You need all stainless steel
Most spray guns this day are ready for waterbourn
But you will need to learn all new sanding/prepping technic
Drying time is also different from solvent based
I have sprayed MLC waterbourn and like it

Have not used the MLC series, but we just finished an entire museum of casework in Phl using Valspar (now called Axalta) Zenith waterborne series. Had to go WB since these were artifact cases and required low-VOC. Architect/designers happy, we're happy.

Shot close to 100 gallons between primer and white colorcoat. Def a short learning curve but doable. It was white on white. I did find that shooting panel work I had to coat let flash off entirely before re-coating.

You will need a gun upgrade.

We were happy with the finished product

Funny to log in to post a question about Campbell and see this one. (different question, different post).

We have sprayed a lot of waterborne from them. Dropped the new mix of Aqualente when the formula changed and the dry times went in the trash can. As already stated here, its way to slow for us and too fussy, but thats just our experience. We are trying (pretty much hopelessly I believe) to get some samples of the Magnamax H20. We did recently roll the dice on bringing in a load of the new waterborne 2K and the stuff is extremely impressive. The sucky part for us is our distributor is not moving a lot of waterborne and will only bring in case quantities. We finally gave up waiting for samples of the 2K and just pulled the plug on a case of finish and case of catalyst (thank goodness we love the finish because we have enough catalyst for 24 gallons of material on the shelf).

We loved the old formula of Agualente and had moved to it from the post cat waterborne they had way back.

We lost distribution for a while and shot a several other H20's, Sayerlack, KemAqua, and a bunch of different Target Coatings material. The 2K is spendy for sure but its the nicest stuff we've sprayed in a long time and for an H20 it is super tough stuff in the tests we've run so far. The build and finish is impressive but your probably double the cost.

I tried it once a year ago because it was easier to get a color match as I use Campbell for all my solvent stuff and they're close by. Absolutely hated it. My go to water based is General finishes, which IMO is miles ahead in water born finishes.

WOODWEB's forums are a highly regarded resource for professional woodworkers. Messages and responses that are crafted in a professional and civil manner strengthen this resource. Messages that do not reflect a professional tone reduce the value of our forums.

Messages are inappropriate when their content: is deemed libelous in nature or is based on rumor, fails to meet basic standards of decorum, contains blatant advertising or inappropriate emphasis on self promotion (return to top).

Libel:   Posts which defame an individual or organization, or employ a tone which can be viewed as malicious in nature. Words, pictures, or cartoons which expose a person or organization to public hatred, shame, disgrace, or ridicule, or induce an ill opinion of a person or organization, are libelous.

Improper Decorum:   Posts which are profane, inciting, disrespectful or uncivil in tone, or maliciously worded. This also includes the venting of unsubstantiated opinions. Such messages do little to illuminate a given topic, and often have the opposite effect. Constructive criticism is acceptable (return to top).

Advertising:   The purpose of WOODWEB Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions. WOODWEB suggests that businesses include an appropriately crafted signature in order to identify their company. A well meaning post that seems to be on-topic but contains a product reference may do your business more harm than good in the Forum environment. Forum users may perceive your references to specific products as unsolicited advertising (spam) and consciously avoid your web site or services. A well-crafted signature is an appropriate way to advertise your services that will not offend potential customers. Signatures should be limited to 4-6 lines, and may contain information that identifies the type of business you're in, your URL and email address (return to top).

Repeated Forum Abuse: Forum participants who repeatedly fail to follow WOODWEB's Forum Guidelines may encounter difficulty when attempting to post messages.

There are often situations when the original message asks for opinions: "What is the best widget for my type of shop?". To a certain extent, the person posting the message is responsible for including specific questions within the message. An open ended question (like the one above) invites responses that may read as sales pitches. WOODWEB suggests that companies responding to such a question provide detailed and substantive replies rather than responses that read as a one-sided product promotion. It has been WOODWEB's experience that substantive responses are held in higher regard by our readers (return to top).
