Does anyone have a shop built or purchased fixture to hold a glass panel door while you are spraying it? I spray our doors horizontally on a turntable fixture that I built but it requires the door to have a panel. When i spray glass panel doors i usually set them on triangular shaped sticks on saw horses which works fine if you only have a few. If you have a bunch to do then you have to replace the tape on the sticks between every group of doors or the overspray from the previous doors gets on the back of the new doors. I am hoping for something that has 4 points that the door sits on that is adjustable to the door size that holds the door up so that bounce back doesn't get on the back of the door. Ideas?

Are you talking about cabinet glass doors?
If so why not use a piece of plywood to sit on the turntable and put a piece of cardboard on top then you can spray your door
Then replace the cardboard and spray the next one

If you are using 35mm hinge cups, consider hanging the doors so you can spray both sides in one go. There are hooks you can buy that expand into a hinge cup and let you hang the door. I built a couple stands that hold a 10' long 1" pipe, hang 3 or 4 doors, shoot, then move them to another pipe elsewhere in the booth to dry.

Mastercabman- that would be a way to do it but I would still need to be replacing a sacrificial surface between every door which is what I am doing currently.

Jared Emery- I prefer to spray the doors flat one side at a time and put them on a rack to dry. I get a better finish this way and it takes up less floor space.

Since posting this i came up with an idea for a fixture. If it works out i will post pictures. I am still open to any ideas that anyone might have though.

Thanks Chris. That's exactly what I was looking for. Now to track down a good deal on one. $800 from Stiles seems a bit pricey but probably worth the money. Have you used one? Do they stay in position well or do the arms want to move around on you?

My dad is a steel fabricator, so I had him make one up for me. I’ve never used an actual JOWI. It really helps to eliminate overspray on the back of doors. Never had an issue with the arms moving when I didn’t want them to. I usually end up swinging one out of the way and having 3 points of contact to eliminate any rocking of the panel

Save yourself 800, you don't ned the octopus.

Lay a piece of sacrificial mdf or whatever on your turn table, then cut 2x 1" x 3/4" x 20" (or whatever you shortest door is) and lay your door frame on these strips. keeps them an 1" off the surface and you can slide them around for different door widths as you spray

Simply make a pin board, a piece of plywood with sheetrock screws coming through the back and the tips hit the inside frame of the door where the glass will lay in the back. Spray the back, flip the door and spray the edges and face.
