Oriental cabinet doors

I client has requested a oriental style buffet cabinet. The doors will have horizontal reeds/ beading that will make the surface of the door look like an old fashioned wash board. He wants a very light finish so I would probably use maple or alder. Any ideas on how you would construct such a door would be appreciated. I am concerned about how to do the beads as well as movement in a solid unframed door

We did that style in January.
frame and 1/4" ply panel door
ran mahogany strips thru shaper with bead cutter 8' lengths and then cut to length to fit panel. time consiming but client was thrilled. photo enclosed.

The photo posted by Michael shows a frame and panel door. I need to make a solid wood door ,no frame, beads would run al the way from edge to edge

Seems like using a router with appropriate bit works. Quick & easy on a CNC or do it with an incrementing jig by hand.

As for wood movement that's always a risk with solid wood doors. Skip the alder if a really light color is needed.

Have you considered battens on the inside of the door?

In response to Monte yes I was planing to use battens in a dovetail slot and only glued for an inch or so. They would keep the door flat but let it move.
