We have just finished a kitchen install and have a problem. The cooktop and undercounteroven are to the right of a fridge panel and there is a microwave/fan combo above it. The microwave door will not open as it hits the fridge panel which is 25.5 inches deep. Design was given to me by client and i assumed microwave door opens inside. The counter is white ceasar stone and is already in place. I can move the fridge panel to the left and counterguys may be able to fill space , but i do not know if they can hide the joint. I would then make a filler on the left of the microwave so that the door can open. Anyone know of a microwave that has a door that opens inside flush with side? There is a whirlpool microwave there now.
let me try to understand. You have a microwave that is butt against a refridge panel? And you have a cooktop that is also right next to the panel without any space?
whats the model number of the microwave you have now?
Did a kitchen a while back for a client that put in a built in microwave that had a door that dropped down like a regular oven.
Pretty sure it was a Jenn-Air, but Im not 100% on that.
Might solve your problem.
Let this be a learning lesson, just because the client hands you a design, you will still be left holding the bag unless you suggest changes.
Thanks for the feedback. I found two models that fit the bill. Sharp and Viking both make models with a frame on the left that allows for door openings against a fridge wall. Whew!!! That was a close call. I would have had to move fridge wall 1" to left, and pay to redo the ceasarstone counters and backsplash, reinstall sink and countertop burners, plus add fillers to left of microwave and undercounter oven.
Sharp...see link below.
