printing on plywood2/2
I'm looking for the right process and a vendor to print background color and contrasting colored grid onto 5/8 x 15" x 18" birch plywood blanks. It needs to be consistent and reproducible in quantity.
Do you mean silk screening?
There are companies out there that do laser jet (or is it ink jet) printing on wood substrates. I was first introduced to it fifteen or so years ago. They were trying to sell me on printed sketch faces to replace veneer sketch faces. It was pretty amazing what they could do. I don't remember any of the company names, but there were several out there. Try a Google search.
Davis sign co. in San Rafael, ca can do it I'm sure. They've printed stuff on plywood for me before. They also have a cnc.
I'm a printer and a cabinetmaker. Find a print shop with a UV flatbed inkjet. Most likely a larger sign/repro type shop. I have used Triangle repro in Orlando.
Cefla makes a machine for this. http://www.ceflafinishinggroup.com/en/products/printing-machines
The laser companies can do some pretty trick stuff. We did a whole store a few years ago.
Here is a partial picture of the store
That is pretty cool. Was it a wear resistant surface, or do you have to clear coat it?
