Problems with Wilsonart Traceless laminate-- very brittle.12/7
Has anyone else noticed great difficulty with Wilsonart "Traceless" line of laminate?
We are doing a job currently and are having much more difficulty with it than any other laminate I've used. It's easier to chip even than eggshell cabinet liner.
The main problem is stuff we lay up by hand. Our glue is solvent based contact adhesive. When trim routing it, even a brand new two-flute bearing bit leaves a small amount of chipout. A bullet bit is even worse (brand new).
The items we ordered laid up on 3/4" PB went through the CNC and edgebander just fine (bander has diamond premil), no chipout at all.
Lay it up by hand, pass over with trim router, you get chips. Small ones, but definitely noticeable.
It's also easier than normal to flake a corner exposing the black phenolic.
Any tips on this stuff, specifically?
Hi Matt, we are getting a lot of chip out with this material as well. We’re you able to find any solutions?
