Holzher Edge Bander2/27
I am looking to purchase a new edgebander and the machines I am looking at are the 1200 series Brandt, 1308 Auriga Holzher and the Olimpic K360. We primarily run your std hpl strips, pvc, and 3mm. I am going to go with premill as an option. Anyone with experience on these machines and can offer knowledge, I will take all I can get.
Watch the conveyor speed on the auriga. I work in a custom cabinet shop that recently upgraded our enormous Brantd KDF 780 to a HolzHer Auriga. It was sooooo slooooow! we moved to a HolzHer Sprint, with premill and 3mm end rounding. Now we are back up to speed.
We went from an older Holz-her Sprint to a Brandt 1100.
Not really a fair comparison between the two because the Holz-her model had more features than we needed, but I will say that the glue pot of the Brandt is far less frustration than the glue cartridge of the Holz-Her.... except for heat up time. The Holz-Her was awesome for fast heatup.
After using the Brandt with the glue roller, I really don't care to ever use a machine with metered glue nozzles like our old Holz-Her did. We don't have to fret sudden changes in material thickness, it's one less setting you can forget about.
The Brandt is a much more "set/forget" sort of machine and the trimmer settings are remarkably repeatable from day to day. I couldn't get that from the Holz-Her even when it was only about 4 years old (when we first bought it).
