guide rollers flange

After over 2 million bf I run the flange on the guide rollers 1/4 behind the blade as Cooks recommends, the 1/8 or 1/16 that Woodmizer recommends is not enough and will cause the blade to bend around the flange when sawing hard causing the gullets to crack. Running 1/4 behind the flange I get up to 20 sharpening on some blades and then they are down too 1" wide and get retired.

Sounds like alot of sharpening for one blade.I get around 500 to a 1000 feet before a blade needs sharpening. Looks like you are getting 20,000 feet per blade which is good.

I most times only run my blades 2 hours or around 500 to 700 bf on my TK mill, sawing clean softwood I might get 1000 bf and sawing large dry white oak maybe only 35o to 400 bf. Also when they are getting down to 1" wide they won't run quite as long,. . Steve

On my home made mill I've used Timberwolf band blades, Lenox. I thnk the Lenox are the best because of how the tips are heat treated. Once the heat treatment is ground off from resharpening they will get dull faster, True with any blade.

Thats Great !
Im glad Mr, Hays is having a better experience with the Lenox blade than I had.
I had alot of trouble getting Lenox to send me blades with the correct amount of set .
Made lumber like a cheese slicer. YUCK !
