Maintaining wet bulb temp
5/31/16
I have just recently built a kiln and use the Nyle 53 dryer along with the power venting system
The kiln is 12' long, 5 1/2' wide and 7' high
the roof and floor have 3" of blue Styrofoam insulation and 1" on the walls. everything has been painted and calked and taped to assure no leaks the doors have an adequate seal. The wet dry bulb assly is not in the main air stream but off to the side where it receives a gentle air flow
The kiln is in the basement of my shop where cold is not an issue and the floor is warm. The Rh of the basement stays around 45% RH
I follow the Nyle drying schedule and have never been able to maintain a proper wet bulb temp ,dry bulb is no problem. It seems that that the RH of the kiln stays just above the wet bulb setting and can easily be dropped back so the compressor shuts off after running for a few min. After a day or so I get a stall where the kiln RH does not move any more. Example a fresh cut load of walnut went in and the schedule said dry 90f & wet 85f dry, the lumber I figured was about 95% it took one day for the stall to happen and the RH of the kiln was same as the wet bulb. Do you think I need more insulation . like I said before heat is not an issue. Also I have a 6 deg.f difference in temp from the top of my wood to the bottom. I am going to install the nyle misting system shortly
Any ideas
Thanks

another thing I found out tonight is the DH which has dual fans is putting out twice the air flow from one side as other. I have a cold spot in the kiln and that is the side which has 1/2 the air flow and that is the side my wet/dry bulb sit. I used a pyrometer to check the air flow and checked it three times and got the same reading. Think I better talk to Nyle
any other help is appreciated
Thanks
