Machining Curved Handrail1/22
We have a 6 head moulder
But I now need to make a 2" round handrail (or foot rail in this case) on a 8' radius. We will have no problem making the radius'ed blank for this, but I'm uncertain on how to get it into a moulded into a 2" handrail.
Just a though, it may be more complicated that that, I have a downloadable full round at that size on our website.
Why is this treated different than an arched molding with a half circle profile?
I did this on a much tighter radius a few years back simply using a 1" radius bearing bit on a router table. An unsophisticated approach, I know, but it worked fairly well. Required a bit of handwork to make perfect, but the result was good and set-up quick and easy.
Laminate curved blank. 1/4 knife on shaper.
