Veneering

Just a few questions:
What is the best way to stop minor telegraphing when veneering Baltic Birch end grain when using one layer of veneer..And how, when veneering ebony next to holly can you stop the ebony dust from ruining the holly when sanding after pressing...Any help on this would be appreciated
Thank You

I don't know about your telegraphing problem but when sanding light and dark veneers together I keep a blow gun real close and hit it after each few passes with the sander. Seems to work.

Use thicker edge banding or solid wood edge.

To avoid the dark bleeding into the light, use a scraper instead of sanding.

I agree with Rich C on the telegraphing. The best way is simply to go to a thicker edgeband.

It's like when I asked a finishing guy how to repair veneer that's been sanded through, he said don't sand through the veneer. I think you've realized maybe you shouldn't veneer with single ply over baltic. Try using two ply veneer and the problems disappear.
