Shipping vertical panel saw3/4
I'm keeping my eyes open for a good deal on a VPS and was wondering about shipping them long distances, either finding someone else to pick it up or driving myself with a trailer.
Being unfamiliar with them I'm curious how much they break down for shipping and if there is anything important I should be aware of.
Also, to anyone who has shipped something large like this, what ballpark would I be looking at for shipping costs?
It is no problem to ship them long distances and even on a semi. It is recommended to ship them on an air ride semi. I would not ship it common carrier unless it is completely crated.
In regards of anything to be aware of. I cannot stress it enough. Prior to moving the saw at all, remove the carriage from the saw. This part is designed to be removed and then laid down on a pallet. You will need to loosen the bearings on the bottom and top, then disconnect the wiring. You can then lift the whole vertical carriage off of the base.
This is the proper way to move them.
