This position must be able to take a project from start to finish, direct a team, work independently, or work within a team to complete a job with minimal supervision. This position assists in other departments, such as Shipping, Receiving, Detail, and Finish when production capacities fluctuate and needs arise. This position can be assigned to 5 possible roles within the Machine Department: CNC Operator, Edgebander Operator, Beam Saw Operator, Sheetgood Processor, and Hardwoods Millworker.
Reviews Work Orders in detail and seeks guidance from Machine Supervisor when needed.
Tracks time accurately in ERP System and seeks assistance if questions arise.
Often works without supervision and may direct a team.
Confirms that the correct material is pulled for Work Orders to be cut.
Organizes the fall from patterns cut, so that the materials needed for the current jobs are kept and the materials that are not needed are discarded.
Able to production-issue material as needed and help maintain accurate inventory.
Responsible for general maintenance of their assigned machine, including changing blades as needed.
Confirms that the parts meet specifications for quality, especially when cutting veneer graded parts.
Helps maintain part organization to improve department and shop flow.
Facilitates the flow and continuity of production cutting.
Keeps all areas clean, neat, and organized at all times.
Helps to train others and assists other Machine Department personnel as needed.
This position has the ability to program and operate both of the CNC Machines that the Machine Deptartment is currently using. The operator must be able to read and understand complicated cutbills and shop drawings, and be able to manipulate programs at the machine. This position works with the Machine Supervisor and Lead to process Work Orders in the order the Production Schedule dictates.
This position has the ability to adjust and operate the Edgebander Machine. The operator is able to read and understand complicated cutbills and shop drawings, and is able to troubleshoot and resolve issues that come up on the Edgebander. This position work closely with the Machine Supervisor and Lead to ensure production flow is maintained, and that parts are processed in the required order.
Beam Saw Operator
This position has the ability to use and manipulate a production Beam Saw, pull and production-issue materials from stock, and be able to operate a Forklift safely. This position works with the Machine Supervisor and Lead to cut Work Orders in the order the Production Schedule dictates.
This position requires the use of a programmable drilling/dowel inserting machine, a manual drilling machine, shapers and a sliding table saw. The operator must be able to read and understand complicated cutbills and shop drawings for the mockup of fixtures. This position works with the Machine Supervisor and Lead to process Work Orders in the order the Production Schedule dictates.
This position requires the use of a moulder, rip saw, shapers, and various other machinery to provide required profiles for Work Orders. This person must be able to read and understand complicated cutbills and shop drawings. This person works with the Machine Supervisor and Lead to process Work Orders in the order the Production Schedule dictates.
Minimum of 4 years cabinetmaking or commercial millwork experience or a trade certificate equivalent.
Deals with all quality issues at the source.
Ability to analyze shop and architectural drawings.
Ability to budget time to complete projects by required deadlines.
Ability to maintain a consistent accuracy level within a tolerance of 0.2mm.
Basic math skills are required: addition, subtraction, decimals, and basic geometry.
Basic reading skills are required: ability to read measurements, general information, safety rules, and company policies.
Solid understanding of both metric and standard units of measure, including the ability to convert between the two.
Must have basic computer skills to use ERP System.
Must be proficient in using all shop machinery located in the Machine and Assembly Departments, including the Table Saw, Band Saw, Edge Sander, Sliding Table Saw, Drill Press, Jointer, Planer, Hand Routers, Wide Belt Sander, Glue Spreader, Veneer Press, Shapers, V Groover, and Dowell Inserter, as well as all the hand tools on High Country Millworks Tool List.
