Water based contact cement

We are currently spraying 3m 94 ca out of the canister type spray system. We mainly build very large conference tables out of laminate applied to a mdf substrate. We need to cut down on our VOC emissions. What water based products are out there that will yield the same results or maybe better. I would like to continue spraying. Thanks

I've had good success with most water based contacts when bonding laminates or poly back veneer to any porous core material. My preference is Henkel aquence CD 318T. Spray able viscosity, dries faster than most and stronger bond than any I have tested against it.

We went to water borne adhesive about 20 years ago to avoid exposing employees to the health risks solvents. Initial testing showed a considerable variation in durability. We now use Henkel. There is a learning curve! Putting too much on really slows the drying process. Make some test panels and use a gram scale to learn to put the recommended amount on, uniformly. Stage your work to maintain a uniform rate of out put. My laminate guys would not go back to solvent. We switched from using a diaphragm pump to a 5 gallon SS pressure pot a few years ago. A pogo pump doesn't work well because of the shear sensitivity of the water borne. Make sure you don't have bare steel, copper or brass in contact with the adhesive. As much as practical we have switched to using pre-lam board bought from our supplier of laminates. The hard setting glue line is better than contact.

We use a water base industrial contact cement system from the manufacture on this link its called Perma-Grip works great drying time is quick its about 2-3min. They also have many other adhesives available.
