Gluing torrified ash1/6
Hello all. I've been playing with torrified ash and I'm having issues with the glue bond. I'm using titebond 3 right now with horrible results. After a full 24 hour cure I can pull the joint apart with my hands. Has anyone else had any luck with this stuff?
You need to use polyurethane adhesive with all thermally modified woods
I have worked with torrified ash and oak. I used Titebond II and III for interior and exterior work. I haven't had any problems. I have a piece in my shop five years without any problems. I took no unusual steps in gluing.
There are different qualities of torrified wood, so I suspect the issue is related to the wood. I suggest TB or TB II, instead of III, but this will not help the wood issue.
I built a 10’ long dining table out or torrified ash and used Titebond 3 without any problems. This includes laminating two thickness for the legs as well as gluing up the top.
